This is the first big ride in years that has truly scared me to bits.
Not only are there more mountain climbs than in many years there are many more cobbled sections across Netherlands, Belgium and Northern France.
To add to that there’s the Mur de Huy and the Mur de Bretagne – for those who know what “Mur” means I’m nervously looking forward to the “Wall” !
At exactly 2,100 miles or 3,360 km during 21 stages this is going to be the ride of a lifetime in the year in which I turn 50.
